God Loves You As You Are
Suppose Jesus Christ walked into the room looking for you. He finds you, walks over to where you are and looks you straight into your eyes. What do you think He might say to you?
Does He say, “I’m fed up with you. I’m so sick and tired of your broken promises, unkept resolutions and all your false starts. I’m looking at your resume and you need a lot of work. Repent.”
Or would He say, “Thank you. Do you know what a joy it is to live in your heart? Do you know how proud I am that after I chose you that you chose me? Do you have any idea how grateful I am for you?”
What does Jesus say to you?
Would He say, “You know the only time you break my heart is when you refuse to accept that every sin in your life is not only forgiven but also entirely forgotten. I can’t even remember what it was. Do you know that I’ve loved you from all eternity and no matter what goes down, I can’t stop loving you.”
Love vs. Religion
Friar Brennan Manning asks us to consider these questions as we consider our personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is our relationship one dependent on rules, regulations and religion. Or is it an intense, personal love affair.
God loves you as you are and not as you should be.
The most radical demand of Christian faith is allowing yourself to be the object of the vast delight of the risen Jesus. Watch as Brennan Manning reveals that God loves you as you are and not as you should be. Once you get a hold of this, the sky is the limit.
